Are you suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome?
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a gastrointestinal disorder characterised by the presence of a cluster of symptoms and signs in adults and children that can include: cramping, abdominal pain, increased gas, altered bowel habits, food intolerances and bloating.
IBS can make your life feel very stressful and unpleasant and stress tends to make these symptoms worse.
Going out for lunch, dinner or to a friends has can become almost impossible and most people prefer to know where the closest toilet is.
Parents of children who have constant stomach aches, diarrhoea, constipation are often at a loss of what to do.
How we can help you
At Bargara Beach Holistic Health Centre, our Naturopath has access to a variety of testing that can help you or your child. Not only do we have access to allergy testing and celiac testing through blood pathology, but also to intolerance testing which can either be done through a blood test or a hair sample.
The test and program that seems to be giving the most effective results in IBS is a Hair Testing of 500 Items. A small sample of hair is taken (coloured hair is okay and saliva is used for those with no hair) and sent to a testing centre. A report is emailed back which can be forwarded straight to you.
This non intrusive hair test is ideal for children and removing the incompatible items will not only improve their digestion but also their behaviour.
The hair testing report shows the 500 Items in black and those that are incompatible with your body will be in red. It also comes with a report of dietary advice. The program is to be followed for 6 months and costs $247 for clients and $287 for non clients. A retest at 6 months is recommended to see which foods you can reintroduce and this costs $185.
Note that there is also a list for different countries, an Indian list of foods, a babies list and a pet list.
Not only is the hair testing helping with IBS but it is also helping with issues such as eczema, arthritis, reflux, bloating, indigestion, psoriasis, rosacea, arthritis, headaches, children’s behaviour issues, brain fog, restless legs.
Some people may also require supplementation in the beginning to assist in the healing of their digestion while the body recovers from many years of having foods that have caused inflammation. This is often foods you haven’t been able to pin point.
With supplementation specific items are required that can be different for each person and self-prescribing is not the answer as it can sometimes make people worse or even contribute to the continuation of IBS symptoms. It is important to receive qualified advice from a Naturopath before self-prescribing any supplement. Naturopaths are specifically trained for years in natural medicines and continue to research as the industry changes.
