Taking the natural way to good health

Bargara Beach Holistic Health Centre is owned and operated by Rebecca Lang, a highly qualified naturopath with seven years experience successfully treating her clients’ health issues with natural medicine.

Rebecca has completed a Bachelor of Health Science in Complementary Medicine and three advance diplomas in naturopathy, western herbal medicine and nutritional medicine, along with many other certificates. She is also currently enrolling in the Bachelor of Medicines Management with Professional Honours in Complementary Medicine to further her education.

Rebecca said naturopathy and natural medicine research had greatly evolved over the last 10 years. “New naturopaths are now being advised to have a degree education which are primarily accessed through various universities around Australia,” she said. “I am trained to understand the science and biochemistry of the human body along with its healing requirements, pathology, disease states and how to use a holistic approach to balance and support the body, mind and spirit.”

Rebecca is passionate about explaining to the public about the dangers and unnecessary expenditure of self-prescribing retail supplements. “Vitamins, minerals and herbs can interact with pharmaceutical medications and diagnosed disease states. “If you are taking supplements that have not been prescribed by a qualified naturopath you may be causing your body more harm than good. “You may also be spending a lot of unnecessary money on low dose supplements or ones that are not producing the results your body needs. “

Many people are now looking for a health professional that will take the time to listen to all of their health issues and concerns along with any mental, emotional or spiritual challenges they may be experiencing.” Rebecca will often refer patients to other health professionals that specialise in different areas of health including medical doctors. She will work to complement the medical system and if suitable, write to your doctor, or suggest further blood tests based on your health issues.

Rebecca can also request blood tests herself and will have the results within 24 hours, if not sooner. An initial consultation is 1–1½ hours and will involve an extensive health history and symptom documentation, dietary review, urine biochemistry, review of blood pathology and computerised iridology. A script is then written including referrals to relevant health professionals, dietary changes, and prescribed natural medicines.

Additional testing may be requested such as further blood pathology, hair testing for food intolerances, allergy testing, hormone and adrenal testing through saliva and stool testing, because Rebecca is also trained in the interactions between
pharmaceuticals and natural medicines as well as educated on reducing the side effects of pharmaceuticals with natural medicines. “The information from all results is then gathered and reviewed over further appointments to assess your health holistically. “

Review appointments are usually every three or four weeks until there are improvements in your overall health and then they are spread out to every three or six months. “You are still able to purchase repeats on your supplements in between appointments and collect from the clinic.”
