What is Reiki?

by Aug 2, 2017Health & Well-being

Reiki is a non-invasive, gentle, yet powerful method of healing developed in Japan.  It utilises what is known as “Reiki energy” to promote healing within the physical body, as well as in the mental, emotional and spiritual being.  It acts to enhance the body’s natural healing abilities to promote overall health and wellness.

It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” (“Reiki energy”) flows through us and is what causes us to be alive.  If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to benefit from it.

Why use Reiki?
Reiki can be used in the management of any condition or ailment to help speed up the recovery process and enhance the action of other healing modalities, such as naturopathy.  While it can be used for all issues we find that it can be especially beneficial in the following:
• Poor stress management/high stress
• A sense of feeling ‘stuck’, ‘not yourself’ or ‘not quite right’.
• Mood disorders such as anxiety, depression, low mood, reduced self confidence/ esteem, negative mental chatter.
• Sleep disorders such an inability to attain sleep and restless/unsatisfying sleep.
